Hanging the Greens
December 16, 11:00 am.
The Tree arrives on Saturday and we'll gather to decorate it after church this Sunday. From there the decorations will spread throughout the building. I'm hoping for a little holiday music and some carol singing... to say nothing of punch and munchies.
Longest Night Service
December 22, 5:00 pm.
The Christmas season is often marked by expressions of joy, excitement, and happiness. It's a time for family to gather and for churches to have services reflecting these feelings. However, for some the holiday is a time of remembered pain and loss and all the excitement just makes them feel more alone. The Service of the Longest Night is scheduled around the winter solstice (the longest night of the calendar year) and coincides with the traditional feast day for St. Thomas the Apostle. On this the longest night of winter we are invited to consider Thomas' struggle to believe the tale of Jesus' resurrection, and our own struggle with darkness and grief and loss. Look to the light. Hope comes with the dawn.
Christmas Memorial Flowers
Each year people are moved to celebrate the birth of Jesus by making gifts of flowers, often in memory of loved ones. Contributions to the Flower Fund may be mailed to the church at the address below.
